Refashion Designer Niquita Samuel of (Ngati Maniapoto, Ngati Haua) is an Avante Garde National costume designer for Elite International Pageant Miss Earth New Zealand. She began her fashion journey in 2014 studying at Waiariki Institute of Technology and completed her Degree in 2021 in Creative Industries majoring in fashion. Winner of Catwalk Arts Warkworth competition in New Designer Section and Judges Choice. She was also part of a Human ethics research scholarship through Toiohomai and was awarded 1st place in her project “Exploring empowerment through upcycling”.
NIQ, founded by Niquita Samuel, is a sustainable and ethical fashion label deeply rooted in Te Ao Māori. Niquita's journey into fashion began with a personal connection to her heritage and her late grandmother, who inspired her first collection. Debuting at the Pacific Fusion virtual fashion show in 2020, NIQ has since captivated audiences with its distinctive blend of recycled materials and cultural storytelling.
